The Four Seasons George V, avenue George-V

Built in 1928 in Art Deco style, the George V was bought and fully restored by Four Seasons in the late nineties. It stands a few dozen metres from the Champs-Élysées.

Avenue George-V

Jeff Leatham’s flower arrangements, renewed every week in the lobby, have become an attraction in their own right. The inner courtyard and its canopy, the sixteenth-century Flemish tapestry and the three starred restaurants do the rest.

A little history

The hotel opened in 1928 and took the name of the British king then on the throne. Behind the art-deco façade, the Marble Courtyard and the garden courtyard remain the two most photographed spots on the property. What strikes visitors first are the flowers: the in-house florist builds arrangements several metres high that change every week in the lobby. The sixteenth-century Flemish tapestries, on the other hand, never move.

Arriving by car

Avenue George-V is wide and two-way, so drop-off under the canopy is easy and the valets take the car from there. The area does seize up on parade or ceremony evenings on the Champs-Élysées.

Around the hotel

Avenue George-V runs gently down from the Champs-Élysées to the Seine. The Crazy Horse is a hundred metres away, Fouquet’s on the corner, and the pont de l’Alma opens the Right Bank towards the Trocadéro. Drop-off is under the awning, away from the traffic.

Our journeys from the George V

We drive a lot of families from the George V: child seats fitted in advance, a boot sized for the cases, and one car rather than two whenever it fits. Departures for Roissy go via porte Maillot, those for Orly along the riverside.
