Cambridge is best crossed on foot: King’s College and its chapel, Trinity and its great court, St John’s and the Bridge of Sighs. The Backs, the lawns running down to the river, are worth the walk in any season.
Punting on the Cam is the local ritual. Around it, the Fitzwilliam Museum and the botanic garden fill half a day easily.
Stansted is the nearest airport. Many travellers from Paris come through Heathrow, or by Eurostar to King’s Cross, then finish by road.
Graduations, university conferences and science park meetings often fall on the same weekend: book the transfer early.
