Waikiki gathers the hotels and the beach, backed by the cone of Diamond Head, climbed in under an hour for the view. The historic centre keeps Iolani Palace, the only royal palace in the United States, and an old Chinatown.
To the west, Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial need booking ahead and half a day. The loop around the island, by the north shore and its surf breaks, fills a full day.
There is no direct flight: the journey leaves Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle and goes through Los Angeles, San Francisco or Seattle, with a long second leg over the Pacific. We handle the Paris side of the journey, outbound and inbound, with your flight number on file and waiting time included.
Two things catch travellers out: US immigration is cleared at the mainland stop, not in Honolulu, and needs generous timing; and Daniel K. Inouye airport is five kilometres from downtown but linked by a freeway that clogs at peak hours.
