Saint-Jean is the liveliest bay, Colombier is reached only on foot. The villas are scattered on the heights, at the end of very steep roads.
The runway at Gustaf III is short and approached over a saddle: only small aircraft land there, from Saint Martin or Antigua.
Ferries link Saint Martin to Gustavia. Yachts lie off the harbour through the season.
