El Sardinero lines up its beaches and its Belle Époque casino. To the west, Comillas and Santillana del Mar are worth the detour, as are the Altamira caves.
Seve Ballesteros Airport is at Camargo, close to the city. Bilbao is the alternative for international flights.
The port takes the ferries from Plymouth and Portsmouth. The A-8 follows the Cantabrian coast from the Basque Country.
