Vincennes packs its apartment blocks between the château and the woods, with a busy high street, a market and narrow roads where stopping has to be planned. Both the number and the street name matter, as several roads carry similar names.
Roissy-CDG is 25 km away, Orly 22, Le Bourget 18. The RER A and the terminus of metro line 1 link the town straight to Nation and Châtelet.
The château and its esplanade close off the north of the town, the woods take up the whole south. In between, traffic runs through a handful of roads only, chiefly the avenue de Paris and the rue de Fontenay.
On market days and Cartoucherie show nights the surroundings fill up quickly: the pick-up point is agreed before the event.
