At the end of July, Bayonne dresses in white and red for five days and five nights. Close to a million people pass through a town of fifty thousand, and the historic centre stays closed to traffic from start to finish.
A closed town, nights included
Petit Bayonne, Grand Bayonne and the Nive quays are fully pedestrianised, and access is filtered. Parking disappears across the whole area, as far as Anglet and Biarritz.
What makes the Fêtes particular is that they do not stop at night: the crowd is as dense at three in the morning as in the late afternoon.
Getting back, every night
Accommodation is taken at Anglet, Biarritz, Saint-Jean-de-Luz or further inland, ten to thirty kilometres out. Public transport does not cover the hours people leave.
A chauffeur waiting at an agreed point on the edge of the perimeter, at the time you set, is often the only simple way home.
What we organise at the end of July
We cover transfers from Biarritz airport and the stations at Bayonne and Saint-Jean-de-Luz, and daily runs between accommodation and the Fêtes.
The van keeps the group in one vehicle and the chauffeur stays directly reachable, including in the middle of the night.
Around Bayonne
The rest of the year, Bayonne, Biarritz, Espelette and Saint-Jean-de-Luz can be visited at leisure, and Spain is twenty minutes away.
The car stays at your disposal from one stop to the next, and the chauffeur crosses the border with no formalities.
