Every summer, the Rencontres de la photographie turn Arles into an open-air gallery: some forty exhibitions installed in chapels, townhouses, former railway workshops and the Luma tower, from July to the end of September.
Venues scattered across the whole town
The exhibitions are not grouped together: they run from the historic centre to the Parc des Ateliers, through venues that open only for the occasion. Some are twenty minutes’ walk apart.
The centre of Arles is partly pedestrian, the streets are narrow, and parking is saturated from July to September.
Opening week
Opening week, in early July, concentrates the private views, the talks and the parties: the town is full and accommodation gets booked as far away as Nîmes or Avignon.
A chauffeur waiting between two venues, or taking you back in the evening, completely changes a day with six exhibitions.
What we organise in summer
We cover transfers from Avignon TGV station, Marseille-Provence airport and Nîmes, and cars at your disposal by the day in and around Arles.
The car stays at your disposal from one exhibition venue to the next, which spares the long walks in forty-degree heat.
Around Arles
The Camargue, Les Baux-de-Provence, Saint-Rémy and the Pont du Gard are within reach on days between exhibitions.
The chauffeur fits the order of stops to your pace and waits through each visit.
