From June to the end of July, the Nuits de Fourvière stage around a hundred performances in the two Roman theatres above Lyon. The large theatre holds more than four thousand people, on a hill whose approaches are narrow and steep.
One hill, two theatres, few spaces
The Roman theatres sit at the top of Fourvière, beside the basilica. The climb runs along narrow streets and parking nearby is very limited.
The funicular stops running before the late performances end, and walking down to Vieux Lyon takes time, in the dark and downhill.
Shows that finish late
Performances start in the evening and often end after midnight, sometimes later for concerts. At the exit, several thousand people head down at once.
A chauffeur waiting at the agreed point, at the time you set, saves the descent and the wait at the bottom of the hill.
What we organise in June and July
We cover return journeys from the hotels of the Presqu’île, Part-Dieu and Confluence, and transfers from Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport.
The van keeps the group in one vehicle, and the chauffeur stays directly reachable if the performance overruns.
Before the show
Many of our clients have dinner in Vieux Lyon before going up, then are driven straight to the theatre.
The car stays at your disposal for the evening, from restaurant to theatre to hotel, with no ride to find in between.
