In mid-July, the Francofolies set up their stages around the port of La Rochelle for five days. The main Saint-Jean-d’Acre stage backs onto the towers of the old port, and the town, already full in July, doubles in population.
A historic centre already pedestrian
La Rochelle has a medieval arcaded centre, largely closed to cars at the best of times. During the Francofolies the perimeter widens and parking disappears around the port.
The concerts finish late, and accommodation is often taken at Châtelaillon, Angoulins or on the Île de Ré, twenty or thirty kilometres away.
The Île de Ré bridge
Many festival-goers stay on the Île de Ré. The bridge is the only way across, and it backs up in July both ways, especially late in the evening.
A chauffeur waiting at the agreed point gets you home without queueing at the toll or hunting for a space on the way back.
What we organise in July
We cover journeys from Paris, transfers from La Rochelle station and La Rochelle-Île de Ré airport, and daily runs between accommodation and the stages.
The van keeps the group together, and the chauffeur stays directly reachable across the five days.
Around La Rochelle
The Île de Ré, the Île d’Aix, Rochefort and the Marais Poitevin are within reach on days between concerts.
The car stays at your disposal from one stop to the next, which spares you driving after an evening out.
