The centre is crossed on foot, between Piccadilly, the cathedral and the Northern Quarter.
The Northern Quarter holds the record shops, vintage stores and cafés. Castlefield keeps the basins and viaducts of the old inland port.
Salford Quays, across the canal, houses MediaCity and the Lowry. Old Trafford and the Etihad close the city to west and east.
